I think failing to respond to problems as they arise is really a huge problem for startups. When the warning signs appear, that's the time to act! Not when things have already deteriorated to the point of no return.

Cash flow is such a huge consideration when starting any business no matter what the size. In fact, entrepreneurs would be better off thinking about that than raising a huge amount of money from investors in the first place. Cash flow that gives you the ability to pay your bills and stay in operation is critical. If you have a way to develop cash flow early on from something in your business, it can be easier to bootstrap further growth as time goes on.
