I'm constantly amazed at how many of my clients spend thousands of dollars on equipment and don't want to invest twenty lousy bucks in a UPS.

So very true. And like you said, a UPS is generally inexpensive, so it's not a matter of up-selling. It's basically cheap insurance to protect their investment.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for sharing. I'll quibbel over number one only when we're talking about really inexpensive technology. I'm not sure there's really a difference when it comes to tech like flip cams, digital cameras etc. for marketing. But being constantly on the lookout as far as the best tech for your needs is critical for your business. Using tech to leverage your small business can transform your business.

Hi Shawn. You bring up a very good point about inexpensive tech. I had initially written that "Business-grade" article with only critical technology in mind. Things that could shut your business down if they were out of commission. Feedback on that article actually prompted me to write a follow-up post that addressed that point, because you're right-- there's nothing wrong with using inexpensive, easily replaceable technology in certain circumstances.
