Do You Make Your Customers Uncomfortable?
"Great post, Greg, and still timely--probably even more so. I think the problem with customer service is pervasive and largely the result of unrealistic expectations on the part of business owners and what they want from their bottom line, which is maybe in this economy just a little too much. Perhaps the new norm should be for business owners to expect to pay good employees a little more, spend a little more on training, and use other compensation for retaining talent while seeking to trim other areas with better supply chain management and implementation of new technology. In a time where employers no longer have an incentive to provide healthcare benefits, other perks might make up some of the difference. What ever happened to the 40% or more employee discount? What ever happened to scheduling flexibility on the part of employers? Stock options? A little control over one's destiny at the company? A little funded education or training? Thoughts?"Are You a Middle Finger Marketer?
"Totally agree, Greg. Again, hate to bring in the state of the economy, but you would think marketers would have the brains to at least use "caring about customers in hard economic times" as a positive marketing differentiator if they don't feel motivated to truly adopt that ethic, which obviously would be better. I think I'd feel a heck of a lot better about an airline that would reach out a helping hand to make things easier and more comfortable for me than support totally gross, ostentatious signage."Why are mobile ads not linking to mobile sites? by Paul Chato
"This is probably a worthwhile thing to think about when you do Google Adsense or other similar advertising especially if you're not directly controlling where those ads are served. Advertise with a link that doesn't lead to a site optimized for mobile and you could be throwing your money away. "Sadly, I'm Back On LinkedIn
"Hi William, Those of us using Facebook are probably so used to these kinds of data sharing issues that perhaps we're jaded. I've always found LinkedIn less irritating because of the focus on business connections...as opposed to, say, FarmVille. It is true, however, that LinkedIn aggressively uses data. But there are certainly benefits as far as networking. Still, as far as communities go, we wouldn't mind a bit if you ended up finding BizSugar your favorite community of all. :) "Every Entrepreneur Dreams of an Overnight Success
"Hey Martin, When you look at so-called overnight success, in most cases there's a lot of work behind it. Many business owners labor for years in obscurity before becoming really visible. Get ready for the long haul. That's the path to real success. "13 Ways to Rock Your Biz Into the Spotlight

Putting the Church Into Scientology
"I don't think the majority of people take the church of scientology seriously as a religion. There's just not enough history of traditions and revelations, let alone the fact that the founder is a failed science fiction writer. But as far as PR goes, scientology gets an F for the fact that everything they do smacks of fascism in the popular sense of the word. I don't think they should necessarily act more "churchy", but since people expect them to react in fascistic ways it might enhance their credibility to prove society wrong by being more transparent, open, and less controlling. They get an F, but of course we all expected them to get that F."
