Homegrown Goodness Isn’t Just for Tomatoes! Why Local Media Can Be Your Springboard to Success
"I agree wholeheartedly that taking advantage of local media opportunities is the way to go, and frankly it's more important to many small businesses to get the word out there on a local level than a national one at first, especially if they center on bricks-and-mortar rather than online sales. Local media are more accessible, to be sure. Notice, too, the trend over the last 5-10 years of print media focusing primarily on local markets? Local patronage is one of the few ways they can survive, so they definitely become more "accommodating" to local businesses. Good submission. Begs the question, "Will traditional media survive?""Marketing Mistakes I Love and Facebook and Sex
"Amusing, especially the Facebook "diagram", however unfortunately for some of those companies it is true that they apparently did not invest well in translation services. This is why, when doing business in non-English speaking countries, its paramount to get to know the local market, language, culture, and expectations before going in with one's product, all gun-ho. Worse business examples are Ebay going blindly into China--what a fiasco--and Ma handing them their heads. Here, there may not have been slogan confusion, but worse, a total misunderstanding of Chinese paradigms. Great post and food for thought!"Subscribe
