How to Never Run Out Of Things to Blog About
"Interesting Paul, but I'm quite sure that ideas can come from any input. i.e. it doesn't have to be from reading. A walk in the park can give you ideas aplenty if your mind is receptive. You could look at one of your walls with some pictures you've glanced at a 1,000 times and get an idea, or read a label from a soup can - or (heaven forbid) watch TV. "Hi Yoni, My Dad always said compound interest was man's greatest invention. (A year after the 1st Moon landing, my physics teacher said he thought man's greatest invention was the color TV. Some nerdy kid asked: Not the computer?? He said no, for him, color TV.) Duncan"WebCoast - Unconference for Web Enthusiasts
"Hi Martin, This must be the "Opposite George" of conferences, like when Seinfeld's George Costanza decided the only way he might succeed would be to do the opposite of whatever he thinks will work. If nothing he thinks is ever right, then the opposite Must be right! It worked - he got the NY Yankees job. Duncan"The Best Entrepreneurs Have Some Common Traits
"Interesting, Martin, and generally true, except in the case of classical music. In a 2 or 3 hour PBS documentary Julliard realized long ago that for music (not the visual arts, dance, prose/poetry, or acting) that if you didn't get into Julliard by age 10 you stood no chance of making it there - you were already hopelessly behind. I know of a few who made it as major label recording artists (back when they controlled all access) and had life-long careers (Christopher Parkening & Paul O'Dette to name 2), but they didn't run the gauntlet at Julliard. They each started around age 14 (guitar & lute, respectively), and within 2 years had far surpassed the level of accomplishment of averagely-gifted people who may have been at it from age 10 to age 35. Sometimes being gifted IS necessary, though they certainly worked very hard on top of it to achieve greatness. No one gets to the top w/o working very hard. Duncan"5 Things I did to promote my blog
"Hi Brankica. I liked the article very much - especially #3 about commenting. I think it's really cool that you turn off the do-follow (given the chance) to let the blogger know that you're there for their ideas, not just their links. You're the 1st I've heard even mention that it's possible. Duncan"Are you a Bird Watcher or Hunter?
"Another really good article from Dr. Reece, Laura! I do think that there're some people who are surrounded by clutter but because their focus is so laser-like & strong, they don't really see it. They only see the task at hand. Of course, it may take them 15 minutes to find something in the clutter...like Lt.Columbo (easily distracted, but relentless). Duncan"Subscribe
