Anna, I would also guess that when a person is in the zone or flow, there are probably physiological parameters that can be measured by CT or MRI. D- Most animals are better than people. Non-judgemental. Don't hold grudges. Unconditional love. Right now I have two dogs on hand who are wondering where their daddy is and when he'll come home. Hoping for tomorrow :)"
Too much of business is who you know rather than what you can do. It's why in too many companies, you see a situation where a high-ranking employee brings aboard a sibling or relative who is competely incompetent. I worked as a patient advocate in a large hospital in the states in the 90s. The general manager's son also held a position of authority. Unfortunately, he could barely tie his own shoes. Nepotism sucks!"
Duncan, I'm also wondering... We've discussed here the phenomenon of buying Twitter followers and Facebook friends. It's probably only a matter of time before somebody comes up with the idea of selling positive reviews. $5 will get you: "I used product A. It changed my life. And the company? They were so understanding, efficient and professional! I highly recommend them""
Congratulations on your growth! I imagine a lot of the growth in online shopping has to do with fuel prices. I would love to do much more shopping online, but most of the things I need and would like are sold overseas (Israeli products are functional, but not very nice). I got a rude awakening when I first moved here. I ordered books from Amazon, clothes from online retailers and furniture. Unfortunately here, the customs officers take their jobs way too seriously and when you order something that costs $100, you usually get an accompanying bill from customs for another $60. That's if you can even get a product shipped here - a lot of companies don't like shipping here. Kind of takes the allure out of the process."
Sarah, The company I work for does a lot of publishing and I have heard quite a few people speak about self-publishing. My opinion is this: Most people self-publish because their manuscripts have been turned down by conventional publishers. It's usually a bad sign; if turned down, it is usually a pretty good indication that said manuscript is not marketable."
Adam, I myself am looking for alternatives after a very frustrating situation. I tried ordering a pair of boots from the States that Yoni really wanted. On the payment system on one site, our zip code, despite the fact that I entered our Israeli address, told us that we are in Afganistan. Another payment site will not take a payment from Israel. One of the boot's distributors has just about ever country on their site except for Israel. A call to their 800 number, and I found out that they just won't deliver to Israel- no reason given. Marshall Islands, Bahrain, Iran, saudi Arabia, Kazakstan and scores of other countries...no problem. Israel? Problem. Then there is delivery. Several overseas delivery companies, biggies, won't deliver to the Har Homa neighborhood of Jerusalem. They consider it occupied territory. It's frustrating as hell! Rivkah"
