Digital Concierge Service Going Mainstream
"Every two weeks, my hubby needs to get up at 4:30 a.m. for a very important appointment. It is critical that he make the appointment and we don't always trust alarm clocks that may or may not go off. About two years ago after my cellphone died in the middle of the night resulting in a missed appt., we started calling the concierges at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem and asking for a wake-up call. We explained that we are not staying at the hotel, yet they agreed with a smile, even laughing at our brashness and honesty. Twice a month, without fail, they call with the wake-up. That's service with a smile! Rivkah"Tea Party Now
"Duncan, I was kind of thinking the opposite...sorry to be a dissenter on this one. I think search engines will be SO overwhelmed with the keywords "Tea and Party" for the next 18 months or so that a website that shares the name would be in danger of being pushed so far down the rankings by the political sites. Then again, I guess there is an SEO factor at play, something I have no clue about. Anyways, I like the Tea Party. Michelle Bachman seems pretty cool, though I imagine the mainstream press will make her seem in the end like they did Sarah Palin, Radical and Dangerous. "Duncan, Hi. Lots of doodoo, but funny doodoo. I'm dedicating this manifesto (for some reason I always think of the UnaBomber when I hear the word maifesto) to all of those with 250,000 and up Twitter followers, 2,500 Facebook friends and 5,000 connections on LinkedIn. And also to those who have 20 web-based businesses all at the same time just to cover all of the bases. I think of many of the Internet douchebags as the new high-school snobs, sort of the jock and cheerleader table in the lunchroom where you had to have a blue-blooded pedigree (i.e being adept at catching a ball of shaking pom-poms) to sit. "Torrey, Great job! Very insightful look at community managers. You speak of passion, being a people-person, bringing people together and uniting. Sounds like a person with these qualities could do wonders toward helping an online community grow. It seems that the opposite characteristics could really have a detrimental effect and cause stagnancy for an online community that seemingly has great potential for growth and participation. No Aim, No Gain! Do or Die Marketing : Setting Objectives is Vital to Success
"Paula, I'm always amazed how many things are/were invented without goals or planning. Case in point: "In WWII, scientists at Kodak were experimenting with chemicals known as cyanoacrylates to make clear plastics to be used for precision gunsights. Unfortunately, the chemicals kept sticking together, making them impossible to work with. The scientists had to abandon the project. One of the Kodak scientists, Dr. Harry Coover, recognized that these super-sticky cyanoacrylates could be used to make an extremely powerful adhesive. Coover and a team of scientists used the cyanoacrylates to form glue that was later dubbed "Super Glue"." They still hold the patent and receive royalties from all super-glue which I'm guessing is a billion-dollar industry. All by accident! "
