3 Marketing Lessons From Soap Operas
"Yup, Luke and Laura. I remember it well. I also remember a newspaper article at the time describing the tens of thousands of gifts that were sent to the “happy couple” by fans. A sociologist did a study at the time and found that the lines that fans had were blurred between fiction and reality, thus the presents. You are right, the fans of the soaps are diehard and loyal, a lesson that we all can glean. I do tune in from time to time, mostly when I’m too lazy to change the channel. I’m impressed by the cliffhangers which get you all riled up about the next episode. The one thing I don’t like though is the adultery, cheating, filandering and back-stabbing. I also remember when my grandmother Sadie, by then in her 80s came to live with us...would have been the early 80s. She loved us kids, but when "As the World Turns" came on, we were not aloud to make a sound. If we did, she'd say with her Yiddish accent, "Schkram...let your bubby (grandmother) watch ze pchogram. Go play outszhide." GREAT article! Yoni "3 Marketing Lessons From Soap Operas

"Susan, So many people like Juan just need a foot in the door to prove how able they are. Speaking slowly or loud is also a biggie. Lower expectations on the part of employees is another. A prime example of a person with exceptional, though hidden abilites is Stephen hawking. Most employers who didn't know him would probablu be reluctant, but by getting to know him you find out he is a brilliant, brilliant person. "Jackie, It is great. There is also legislation such as the Americans with Disabilities Act which celebrated its 20th birthday this year. Although a far-ranging and broad step in the right direction, it has too many loopholes. The key is making reasonable accomodations for disabled employees, usually quite easy and inexpensive, but companies can usually bypass this with a lot of determination. Juan's a cool guy. I hope his employment is going well. Yoni"Subscribe
Hair Theft - Have You Heard of It?
"Just plain weird!!! Do you mean they are going through the garbage to find hair that was cut that day in order to sell for extensions? In any case, I'd be more worried about things you can do with cut hair such as drug test the person from a strand of hair, or, more deviously, clone a person. Weird."
