Great post. i did it about three months ago. I invited some friends and past clients over, my wife cooked dinner and we had a Powerpoint presentation. I got a few jobs out of it.

That is a wonderful idea for anybody whose audience is primarily local. You can step-it-up a notch with bring-a-colleague to dinner day, inviting each one to bring a colleague who might also be interested in the products. Did you promise anything specific that would grab their attention, such as a caramel cheesecake? Or was dinner enough of an incentive?
