For weeks now, I have been struggling trying to get ahead of my business, trying to pull it forward with all my might. The problem is that once I got in front of my business, it started trying to run me over. I found myself being chased by my own business. It was overtaking me quickly and for a moment I thought, “This could be the end!”

Many business owners fall into what I call "Busy Trap". They are constantly busy fighting fires or taking care of frivolous tasks. While you do need to take care of this occasionally you cannot let it drive you or your business all the time. You need to take a step back and proactive plan for the long-term success.

Wow, this is very useful article. I agree with this-when we try to pull (instead of drive) our business forward, we never get anywhere. I enjoyed reading this very interesting article.

A lot of business owners actually are like this. They let their businesses run over them! They let their businesses run their lives. I've met a lot of people who cannot stop checking their emails every 10-30 minutes. I really want to slap them and say, I thought you wanted to become a businessman because you wanted control over your life! DUH! Thanks for this awesome post Mark!
