Susan - One of the best tactics is to use the power of word-of-mouth. Your existing customers are the best source of new customers in the future. Provide great value, superior customer service and they will do marketing to new customers for you, without charging you anything for it. You can enable them to do this by providing tools on your website and social media site.

Hi Harry, agree that referrals from current customers are a great tactic.

Hi Susan,

As a thought experiment, it can be helpful to simply pick one of the points you've listed above--say, customers, time or money budget, market etc.--and figure out a set of tactics to fit that particular variable. Do this a couple of times with a number of the variables as a kind of brainstorming exercise. This will keep the process simple and allow you to consider a number of different tactics without being overwhelmed by trying to pick just one that fits them all.

Hi Heather,

Good idea about brainstorming and it is good to remember not all the factors will be important at the same time. They are just a few things to think about, except for customers who will always need to be factored in.
