My Norton Internet Security is expiring in 10 days. Today I decided to renew it for two more years, and was quite surprised that it is cheaper to open an all new subscription than to renew an existing one: $115 for renewal vs $95 for the same product (when it's a new subscription)

Why charge a loyal customer 35% more than a new one?

I definitely can. However, the main point is not the $20-25 difference, but overall overcharging of those who choose to be loyal to your brand/product.

Can you just buy it new again & re-register? This is one of Many reasons I don't - and will never again - have cable or satellite TV, cell phones, etc.
