The social energy of a special event — whether it’s a large convention or small reception — can be intoxicating. With a little planning and promotion, you can extend the buzz by capturing and curating online content.

In a previous life, I planned and promoted events for a busy association. (By busy, I mean we produced more than 100 events each year.) Why should you make time for online content when you’re that swamped? There are many reasons, but I’ll mention a few of my favorites here:

A comprehensive post with so many good tips--really what we like to see here on BizSugar! I enjoy covering these events, hobnobbing, etc. and to facilitate social sharing of the event right then and there I go around talking and meeting people, usually snap a shot of us together with some background showing what event we're at or with some interesting exhibit in the background, and share or remote blog it right there. The person (and usually these are people who want to be talked about) is immediately anxious to reciprocate in kind via their smartphone, tablet, etc. and we are able to exchange information like emails etc. for list building/contacts right there too. Why wait when you can do it all at the event?

Great post and will be looking for more!
