It looks like there could be a new future for social media and advertising. While brands are focusing on connecting with clients through social media ads and pop-ups may not be a thing of the past just yet as Google is running a trial on a scheme that involves web users being able to skip ads. It sounds like a dream for those who are constantly being bombarded from ridiculous, tacky ads, but what’s in it for the advertisers? Google intends on aiming for more clicks, lower pricing system. By monitoring the amount of people who watched the ad and how many skipped it Google could make a system in which adverts most frequently skipped paid the highest and most often watched paid the lowest. If successful this would put an end to mindless pop-ups and demands a higher quality of advertising on-line.
