Great insights, as usual, Dave - but I'm not sure "tragic shortcuts" sufficiently describes what Enron did - non-existent profits in shell companies that existed on paper only is criminal, not a short cut. Bailing out & leaving everyone else to take the financial burden was at the very least, unethical.
