Is the Recession really crashing the world around us? There is no doubt that there is truths to companies folding, people losing jobs and the rise of costs. However, when these things happen without the strength of the media behind them, we rarely take notice unless we are the one who's company folded or job is lost. So how much is reality and how much is state of mind?

Cheryl Matthynssens,

OK, thanks for the information.

As I said, the state of the economy is due to which ideas are implemented in the society. Psychology is a reflection of the ideas that are dominant at the moment. Of course you will find individuals that are gaining ground during the recession. If you are a contrarian and don't buy into the sloppy mainstream thinking & "middle of the road" mentality, you could strive through rough times, as long as you are free to act.

Yeah, Lyceum, I am sorry about the format, it was not originally like that. It won't let me edit either.

I, too ,believe the recession as a whole is a real thing. However, one cannot ignore that there are people that are gaining ground during this recession. As Shawn said, the psychology is a major factor.

Certainly the psychology of those participating in the market affect that market, however excessive borrowing and unwise business practices don't help either.

The recession is a matter of fact and it is real. The question is what kind of effect it will have on our state of mind. I know that better ideas in the field of economics and a real understanding of the market, will take us out of recession and into a booming economy in the long run. I look forward to return to the land of opportunity...

A friendly note to the author, Cheryl Matthynssens: I thought it was pretty hard on my eyes, reading the story. It was in one long paragraph, at least that is how is showed up on my computer screen. Do you think the webmaster could fix that, so it would be easier to read the text?
