I agree about losing "viral" - it should be replaced by bacteriological (who's going to write That!?).
I disagree about doing nothing necessarily producing a negative impact - that everything has to be positive or negative, and that doing nothing must be negative rather than positive (or neutral, which is obviously correct).
Influence - shminfluence!
