With the presidential election now in its final stretch and the debates just getting started, entrepreneurs certainly aren't the only ones taking a closer look at the candidates and their positions. However there are at least three issues in particular that could very well be affected depending on who becomes our next leader. Here's a look at what both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have said in regards to trade, the gig economy, and mandated health care coverage.

Jon: For the record, I am for a two-party system, and electing a President and Vice-President, based on Electoral College process. That said, according to today's situation, I think a third alternative should be able to give a chance to enter the stage. It is time for a pro-business candidate.

Jon: It was a pretty informative, entertaining and engaging town hall meeting at New Hampshire University. I think that Johnson & Weld have a chance with the younger voters. Instead of having a committee deciding on who should debate, how about letting all the candidates participate in a real big town hall live streaming session? In Sweden you only have to get 4% of the votes in order to have a place in the parliament.

Interesting. Gary and Bill's proposal to the debate commission has been that, since they are on enough ballots to theoretically win, they should be included and I tend to agree. Elsewhere there are also movements to change to a proportional representation model at least on a local level but those thoughts seem to be on the fringe for now. I see that changing in the next 10 years though — I think we'll start seeing an increase in interest for more parties and different ways of deciding elections.

Jon: I would say that both candidates' viewpoints would have negative affect on small business. Did you watch Gary Johnson and Bill Weld on MSNBC (Hardball)?

I actually missed that one (aside from hearing about the gaffe). How was it?
