I struggled having a designated work area but then I'm alone here so don't have to separate myself from anyone or anything.
One thing that does take some getting used to is the motivation to do work tasks that aren't always top of your list - I often find house chores to do then that I would normally put off :)
And always make sure you have some sort of commute so it's not straight from bed to desk. I walk my dogs first every morning which is a great start to the day and a sort of commute.
