The problem with being a pragmatist, particularly when you make your living from working with startups, is it’s easy to be seen as a party-pooper. No one likes to rain on someone else’s parade when everyone is so excited. But, in many respects, it feels like the right place to be. It’s better to test, scrutinize, criticize and poke at a startup’s thesis and value propositions than simply buy into everything.

It's not you, it's getting a bit "frothy" out there in today's business cappuccino. I think a lot of people like the idea of bootstrapping a business, and this may lead to the problem: When people dump a lot of the old assumptions about starting a business, like the one where you need to do a 5 year financial projection, people also tend to dump the important things, like developing the actual business model. They confuse bootstrapping with running out, willy-nilly, and just starting up a business, and we all know that it's not the same thing. Good post!
