English theologian Brooke Foss Westcott said: “Silently and imperceptibly, as we wake or sleep, we grow strong or we grow weak, and at last some crisis shows us what we have become.” Another crisis is here: anemic growth, intractable unemployment, soaring health care costs, an imploding euro zone, looming inflation. (Or is it deflation? Economists aren’t sure which.)
