You can switch your comment platform from the default WordPress to Disqus.

Dear Lord, just use Akismet and it will eliminate 99.999% of your spam. If you have time to do all of the above, you are wasting your life away on pointless activities.

Larry, I agree with you Akismet can eliminate 99.999% of spam; but the problem is that Akismet needs and API key which requires the user to pay a monthly subscription.

Unfortunately, not all newbies can afford monthly subscription. So the best option for them for a start is to use the free plugins that can do a good job, and then later change to a much improved security arrangement like using Akismet when there is some money available to maintain the subscription.
