I can understand why fostering communication and creating an openness among departments and between management levels would be a valuable setup for many companies. But why would you need to do away with titles? In a true team, the members acknowledge and embrace the differences of the members; they don't try to hide or minimize them.

Adam - it's not about doing away with titles, but rather more about creating an environment where they have less meaning and the organization is more about teamwork and less about hierarchy. Embracing someone's differences is different than them feeling they are too low on the food chain to make a difference. I hope that makes sense but I think titles still need to be there, they just aren't what define the impact someone can make in an organization.
