Zooming In and Zooming Out...Do You Do Both?

We tend to swing like a pendulum when it comes to analyzing and solving business issues. We go into “strategic planning mode” for a while, then we dive into mastering new tools or technologies for a bit.

Both are important leadership skills. In zooming out, you see the big picture, you have great ideas. And in zooming in, you know how to operate on these ideas, how to successfully implement them, you are sure how to progress, what to do next. Learning how to integrate the big picture into the details is a skill every businessman should practice. Thanks for posting!

Agreed! I think we often times get so focused on one or the other that we miss valuable opportunities - either on the micro or macro level.
