Hello Isabelle,

I stumbled in from BizSugar, and just thought I'd mention the point you made on analytics and tracking. I also run a website trying to teach ethical marketing, while using a domain trying to elevate above what most of the questionable ethics people promote, and one of the most common problems comes from the fact of lacking analytics. It's not just email campaigns, it's website analytics as well. We simply cannot reposition or fix problems and issues when we don't know what they are.

In all actuality, I'd have to say, in my almost 20 years online, the top biggest problems relate to failure to track, for proper evaluation, and the type of marketer someone is, are they ethical, or unethical. With relation to tracking, it does provide a wealth of information to help us make more educated decisions. Without analytics, it's a shotgun blind approach that gives us no answers to the questions that matter. Just like you pointed out, with email analytics, it can tell us the best days and times to send them because we want the most action we can get from the process.

I'd also point out, that many "gurus" suggest deceptive email subject line headers. Sales always take some degree of trust. How can anyone expect to be deceptive in an email heading and then anticipate an expectation of someone to react on the message within? It's one of the biggest brand damaging moves an email marketer can make.
