Real Understanding Is A Key For Successful Marketing
"Susan, Really great points. Understanding is vital as is initiative to find out other and better ways of doing things. I found the culture in the military to be counter to these rules. It is a culture which spawns unquestioning, sometimes blind-obedience. It's a question of "shut up and do what we tell you" and "you don't need to know why, just do it!" It would be a horrible method in the business or marketing worlds. In the business world I have also found that the egos of superiors often collide with new and better ways, unless of course it is their idea. There are so many reasons why you need inside knowledge of the machinations of a business, both the understand the current system and to find ways to tweek things for a better oucome."Business MADNESS: French Fashion House's New Lingerie Line for Girls as Young as Four Sparks OUTRAGE!
"What shocks the crap out of me most is: 1) Some marketing genius thought this would be a really great idea 2) Ostensibly, this company has a board of directors which signed off on this wonderful idea This is business douchebaggery at it's finest. Shameful."Social Media: Why the Number of Followers Matter
"Marsha, I have to very respectfully disagree. I laugh (respectfully) when I see the number of Twitter followers people have. I checked out one guy's account who recently posted that he had reached 100,000 followers. I checked out his first, or last?, 100 followers as a sampling. At least 80% of them were spammers, pornographers and other types of weirdos. I have 800 Twitter followers and if I whittled down all of the non-relevant ones (pornographers, gamblers, hookers, steroid-peddlers, etc.) I'm sure I would be left with no more than 50 legit followers. I'm just not sure how much credence i give, or how much of a reputation I see/expect when someone says they have 250,000 followers. Yoni"Social Media: Why the Number of Followers Matter
"P.S. I didn't mean for that to sound overly-harsh. I just think that a lot of people have gotten their egos very wrapped up in the numbers game. I also cringe when I see that someone has 250,000 followers but in turn they are following 250,000 others, many of whom are dubious in nature. Yoni"Getting The Cover Right
"Ivin, I take a trip with my wife at least once a week to our neighborhood's used bookstore. I scan book jackets en-masse for a good plot and story-line, but no matter how great it might seem, if it doesn't have a dynamic, catchy cover, I usually set it back down. I'm looking for some artwork, a sketch, or a great photo to get me excited. That being said, a book with a great cover must also have great subtsnace. The two are inextricably linked as far as I'm concerned. Yoni"Creating Catchy Dialogue
"Ivin, Nice post. As a writer myself, mostly historical fiction, I find dialogue to be by-far the most difficult aspect of any work. Making things sound natural and flowing vs robotic is a huge challenge. One thing I always do before sending out a work is have some friends or family sit together and read the dialogue aloud. It give great insight into how it sounds and what needs to be tweeked. Yoni"Business INFOGRAPHIC: Toilet Paper (Facts, Figures, History and Debate)
"I agree Jackie, I did a BRILLIANT job creating this infographic! Okay, I didn't create it, but I helped the guys think it up. Actually, that's a lie too. Well, I re-posted it and that took a load of talent on my part. Nah-nah! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did; I think it's a masterpiece! "It was a classic episode as was "Can you spare a square?" Glad you enjoyed. Just got done listening to this one RE: the only band I would shell out $100 bucks to see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28_unHqjVp0 My mom was a bit of a wild one, thus I remember E.L.O. as background music from our home stereo growing up."Subscribe
