I don't like freelancing sites. There is too much competition in the Third World willing to work for a couple of dollars an hour. It skews profitability.

Disclaimer: I love the Third World and all of her residents!

You bare so right. But I use freelancer.com myself to outsource very specific, mechanical-type tasks. It saves me time (usually).
