The "bottom line" is the important thing to remember here. Nobody will give you referrals if you do lousy work, so outstanding customer service is the most important element here. It should never be neglected.

Besides referrals, asking your customers for testimonials is also beneficial to your business. Potential customers feel more confident when they see positive testimonials about a company they're considering to hire.
