Yes, this is a post about establishing and executing plans. Whether it's a plan to win a deal, to make a high impact sales call, to maximize your share within the account or territory, to make your quota, to hire the right people...... For all of these, we maximize our effectiveness and the quality of the result by having well defined goals and strategies in place, and refining our plan based on signs/signals we see as we execute the plan.

I think this is all great advice--basically approaching your goals by acting as a project manager for your own objectives. However, I do question if this approach tends to run counter to the creative mentality. Many extremely creative, inventive people I know are a complete mess when it comes to time, goal, and life management. Some I know can do both, but when they do the first (being their own PM) the latter (their creativity) suffers greatly. Perhaps business people who are not artists do not have this problem, however many artists would like to capitalize off of their art by starting a business. Are those people just doomed to fail? Or do they just have to surround themselves with business types? It's an interesting post, but not a one size fits all. Thanks!
