Thanks for the tips. I found no. 3 particularly useful and have an FB page I'll be implementing it on. There are a handful of people who are really supportive, and though I do thank them, I've rarely made it a public thanks on the page, so thanks for that idea.

I am also a fan of #4, act like a human, which can be surprisingly challenging for some people who aren't used to the idea of their marketing messages being interactive as opposed to passive.

Thank you for the comment. It's funny how hard it is for humans to act like a human in social. Too often it comes off sounding robotic, insincere or like a sales pitch. Acting like a human and interacting like a human can go a long way in helping find a community that supports what you do.

I agree with all the points you made particularly 2, 3 and 5. Any company that can create a strong community around its brand stands to succeed for the long-term. Apple is an excellent example of such company that has die hard fans and a strong community that promotes the brand without the company having to make effort itself.

Apple is an awesome example of a brand that has built a loyal and rabid fan base. One that I think many businesses wish they could emulate.
