On Fishing (a picture in search of a metaphor)

The man in this picture above is fishing. I snapped the picture while standing outside my car. It is about 4 degrees Fahrenheit, and this small lake is frozen over. Personally, I can’t think of anything I would like to do less than stand on the ice and fish. But, there are lessons to be learned everywhere.

He May be Ok fishing on a small lake this early, but every year there are hoards of ice fishermen on Lake Erie who fall in, 4-wheeler & all. The Coast Guard is tired of rescuing them when they aren't supposed to be on the ice - before it's been cleared as safe by them (they get fined). It's like ice skating before the Park Rangers open it up - foolish. But the guy in the photo may have clearance.
