How to Build a Wellness Program in Your Small BusinessÂ
"It's totally true that building a wellness program into your small business is well worth it. And, you can take steps to ensure better health even if you are a business of one or two, working from home. Just schedule a time each day to take a walk, do some stretching, and make sure you have healthy food and beverages in the home office. Also, just taking some fresh air to get away from the computer--if you're chained to it like I am--works to clear the mind."6 Reasons Why Startup Prototypes Attract Investors
"But how does a shoe-string, bootstrapped business of say, just a couple people put a working prototype together of a concept, an idea they may have, when the actual end product lies outside their skillset? I mean, if you have an idea for something that needs to be machined, that maybe works off a software program, and you only know how to do the software part, how do you get the other piece of the prototype, especially without revealing your entire idea to someone who might take it and run with it themselves? Seems to me you're going to need money, and therein lies the rub. Just wondering, Heather"How to Succeed in Living the Entrepreneur Lifestyle
"Martin, great post, but there's one major thing partially missing: yes, time, not money, is the key resource, however time is only available when money is taken care of, meaning that if you're spending all your time working at a job while trying to get a business off the ground, then it will take a lot longer. Or, worse yet, if you're building something that is bringing in some money but you need that money to survive rather than build the business, well, that basically hamstrings your business. What do you think? I've been there. Let me know, Heather"Are you Wasting Money with These 7 Marketing Mistakes?
"I think this is a great list of mistakes to be aware of, to make sure you're not falling down on the marketing front or wasting time. I definitely have learned the one about retaining one's current customers--it's almost a whole 'nother push to get a new client than to adjust to greater needs of current clients. These are great reminders--Thanks!"How to Avoid Being an Overweight Blogger
"One of the most difficult things to do when you're doing computer work is to get exercise. While blogging does take some time, if that were all the computer work I was doing I could definitely break away to exercise more often. However I'm learning coding, which means I'm glued to the computer for long hours. I can really see why the big tech companies have gyms and other areas for movement and recreation."But, we've only just met!
"If people would just act with a little etiquette in their social media, I think it would be more human and less off putting. However, social media, especially done the right way, can really be a time suck. But anything worth having takes time and energy and commitment. "I don't see anything wrong with utilizing programs like HootSuite and the like, as long as one takes the time to craft their tweets and shares. I think the key is to use the tool as a helper, not a substitute. Interesting submission, thanks!"Get To Inbox Zero And Be Free From The Email Overlord – Better at Marketing
"Easier said than done! I'm good at keeping it close to zero in my client: I use sub-folders in the in-box and move everything at least weekly, and believe me, I have about 15 email accounts funneled through my client to keep up after.... My husband is another story! There are over 3K emails sitting in his various in-boxes as we speak. But some people just can't afford to spend the time to organize it. When I see people who are highly organized, I tend to believe they spend all their time doing that and not much in actual creative work. Perhaps a prejudice, but I'd rather have the messy inbox and the brilliant, creative employee than one who is just okay and has an organized life. I know I'm off topic of your post, so let me just say thanks for the food for thought!"Subscribe
10 Big Lessons from Bad Business Advice
"There's nothing worse than having people around you who don't support your dreams, who tell you that the future you envision for yourself and your business is "pie in the sky". I think the Australians, British, and others refer to someone who has aspirations to reach beyond the average and do well as being "Tall poppies", but for an entrepreneur, being around people who embrace this attitude is a complete drag. They want you to fail so they don't feel bad for not trying themselves. These people are toxic. That's my experience...now I make a supreme effort to avoid those people."
