The Importance of Sustainability
"This is a great post! Having a strategy for sustainability is definitely paramount, however one thing that's often omitted is the concept of time--thinking for the long term and imbuing the corporate culture with attitudes, procedures, and mechanisms to promote agility and patience over the time it takes to implement these long term strategies."The Truth About Your Listening Could Shock You
"Listening is so important, and yet so many of us are not good at it. I think a lot of the time we react out of fear, fear that we won't be understood, fear that we won't get our chance to explain, and fear that somehow there will be negative repercussions if we don't get our point across to our satisfaction. But often we don't stop to think about the negative effects of our failure to listen and empathize. Great food for thought!"Search engines or humans: whose throats should you grab??
"Perhaps online advertising has forced print to be "more honest", however the process of SEO, crafting headlines for the spiders, also contributes to a lot of dross that legitimate businesses must wade through to differentiate themselves. How many great and terrible articles start out with the same headlines online? The whole thing, however, is fascinating. Great submission!"Black Hat Tactics and White Hat Alternatives
"Agreed. It appears to be really tempting for some small business owners to hire some black hat SEO-sters to rise in the ranks, but this kind of artificial success is fleeting. It should be, by now, common sense to follow these simple white hat SEO practices that are in your post. Great job!"What are the psychological differences between men and women?
"Interesting post. Unfortunately I have run into too many men in the (American) workplace that are quick to judge women as irrational, not because of the decisions these women make, but because of the way they communicate. It's important not to generalize, but, as a member of an historically oppressed group--women--I have to say that women have to work harder to appear dispassionate in order to be taken seriously. Men's passion about a subject is perceived as energy, drive, vitality, but women's passion about a subject is often seen as irrational, emotional, and unstable. While it's great that you ascribe to these less prejudicial attitudes, unfortunately it's taking the business world longer to adopt them. Great post, and great ideals!"Facebook for business... using a personal profile
"Although I have the compulsory Facebook business account, I, too, have found that it's just easier and more natural to talk about my business on my personal account. I haven't abandoned the idea of using my business page, but I think there are better ways to add to it than using it directly, like by tagging my business in posts made from my personal account. There's so much one can do if they just explore the possibilities!"Subscribe
Waffle House is Serving Up More Than Waffles
"Joel, You've given me a whole new take on Waffle House...and, um, one I'm not quite sure I'm comfortable with, haha. Well, this just proves that the shock element still works in marketing!"
