A Focussed Marketing Strategy is Always a Winner
"Hi Susan & Yoni. I've seen a few bloggers who brag about starting online businesses (very cheaply) as if starting a business was a video game. I could never even figure out why it was supposed to be brag-worthy. They got bored with the one they started 3 days ago, so it's time for something different. "Very good points, Jackie! I did the same a few weeks ago after someone I had earlier followed morphed into a marijuana site while I wasn't watching. When I whittled my list down from 200 to 50, I did it one-by-one, after checking every home page - also to see who they followed. If they followed weirdos - which some reputable people did unwittingly, I assume (by auto-following), I blocked them. But like you said - no harm, no foul, no offense intended. I learned to recognize the beginnings of some future morphers on some reputable people's auto-followed pages - following just a name & a face w/no other info. Next week or next month - a porn or drug site will take their place. Even saw Charlie Sheen on one, and Snooki on another. "Hi Yoni. Amazing story. Sometimes the adversity people have to fight through makes them much better people. It's good that you're a fighter, and that you have the support of a loving wife. My guess is that she is one of the big reasons you're making the best of it. You're so lucky you found a creative outlet - and doubly lucky that you can make a living at it. The happiest people love their work. All the best, Duncan"90 Day Crazy Insane Blog Promotion Challenge – Week 04
"Brad - "Follow Your Heart". A great tune recorded several times over the years by English fusion pioneer guitarist John McLaughlin. (Advice he indeed followed, taking his career in whatever direction the muse willed, despite more financially lucrative venues.) "Hi Martina. Most of the out-dated sites I see are from people/businesses that obviously didn't really want to be online in the 1st place. Someone higher-up told them too, so they half-heartedly did - and they've never updated anything. Examples are the low-budget/indy local TV hosts, people in hand-made niches that literally spend all day making their stuff (used to selling from postage-stamp sized ads in the back of related magazines), etc. Duncan"Communication skills training
"Hi Chris. Not complain?? Comic Alan King had a show* decades ago, and he closed by saying "people who complain are the happiest people." (Maybe by making everyone else miserable, but what he meant was the catharsis.) *He had a repeated bit with chimps dressed as people sitting at a breakfast table - it was a highlight when I was a kid. He was of the "didn't ya ever wonder" ilk. Duncan"Dimbler for Content Promotion
"Hi David. As a Windows 7 IE user, usually all I see is the little vertical band of "postage stamps" blocking the text. Even if I adjust the magnification back to 100%, it's still usually blocked, not that I can read type that small (I need 200%). From my point of view, it's less annoying than a pop-up, but it renders the post nearly impossible to read. I'm sure this is not the intention of the blogger. Duncan"Subscribe
