Is Social Media Really Anti-Social?
"I think you're OK as long as you have a social life beyond the keypad. There are an unfortunate few who may have limited themselves to "virtual" relationships to the exclusion of...reality. But this would be those that don't just use the tools to conduct business and reach people they could never otherwise reach. businessavante"Is Your SEO Chasing Algorithms or Chasing Analytics?
"The US Army M1 Abrams tank was the 1st vehicle in history to be able to fire at a moving target while moving over rough terrain itself - thanks to a gyro-stabilized gun & a computer-controlled firing system. An '80's commercial showed the tank doing a continuous "donut" (in place - a tank can rotate on axis by moving the tracks simultaneously in opposite directions) with the turret pointing the same direction the whole time - the body is rotating in a circle, and the turret "appears" stationary. businessavante "Improvisation: Harnessing Your Inner “MacGyver”
"Improvisation is definitely under-rated. Besides comedy, it's really big in certain kinds of music. In the 70's I always got motivation from reading Indian-influenced English fusion guitarist John McLaughlin's interviews. He is a totally organic Master of Improvisation. 1st the student must "learn everything", then forget all of it and just connect. He recently (2004) compared true improvisation - the performances he lives for - to having a little bird land on his shoulder. You can't always get it to happen, but when it does, it's the best. businessavante"Getting Over Your Pet Impossibility to Sell Better
"Grant must really be the exception. From 1980-1984 I read over 200 books on 20thC warfare & weapons (to help explain questions about mankind's biggest recurring folly after growing up during Vietnam). Many were by top generals in WWII - from the US, Germany, the Soviet Union, & Japan. Funny thing, no general ever made a "mistake" - there were always excuses as to not enough troops or ordnance, insurmountable odds, not being allowed to execute their plan (which may BE a good reason if the lunatic at the top forced his own plan - you know which lunatic), etc. But it was never them. I read ABOUT some generals who were known for working wonders given rag-tag material to work with, but they weren't the more famous ones writing books. Knowing this going in made reading their memoirs a lot easier. I never read Napoleon's memoirs, but I'm guessing he never made a mistake, either. businessavante"Does Your USP need TLC?
"For years I've been thwarting advertisers trying to "get inside my head". It's just too crowded in there - or too small to navigate! Edith & Archie (about his thinning hair) Archie: "Grass doesn't grow on a busy street." Edith: "'Doesn't grow in cement, either!". (said nonchalantly) businessavante"Subscribe
