Social Media can open our eyes to the value of physical life
"There will always be fanatics at any side of a debate. I enjoyed the read. And have to say that I am a HUGE fan of FriendFeed. It's hard to explain why. But I definitely "feel" it is much more than an aggregation tool. Also I like the end comments of the article about social media might "actually result in a greater appreciation for the richness and depth of real human interaction" I can see where this might be possible. A very cool thought. And when reading the Archbishops arguments, I had images of life at the time of Michelangelo or Da Vinci - a romanticized lifestyle when people had time. Also a cool thought. My life is somewhere in the middle :)"Six ways niche social media sites can benefit your marketing
"Another great read Shawn! In fact, I've learned to always check out the articles you submit. They are always good quality and relevant to the questions I ask myself as a small business owner. I only committed to strengthening my social bookmarking profiles this summer - after Chris Garrett's presentation on social bookmarking at the Social Media Success Summit... and I was ready for it. I think small businesses need to give niche social bookmarking tools a serious review. As this article points out, a good niche bookmarking tool can bring you qualified traffic. I also like niche bookmarking tools for the community you can create and the social proof within that community has a real value. When you find a niche bookmarking tool that is relevant to your business this provides quality in your online presence. I see no reason to get on Digg as this is a platform dominated by young geeks who are not my audience. Besides, the traffic would be "empty" traffic and I don't really need that kind of traffic anymore - I'm reaping the benefits of over a year's worth of consistent content marketing. I've been giving Reddit a try, but this crowd seems similar to the Digg crowd despite the different categories. StumbleUpon is quick and easy - but again the traffic it brings in has an "empty value", so I use it more for networking in wider circles."Social media marketing tips
"Thanks for reminding me about Whiteboard Friday's. I remember that the first videos I watched here were Chinese to me, and now I can follow :) This is a great primer for businesses thinking about social media. I particularly liked hearing about Yahoo Answers - something I need to have a closer look at. "Small Business Vanishes
"Maybe I should not complain about the French Administrations mistakes so much. Of course the French hide behind the law that states that it's up to everyone to know what the law is. But they make it difficult to find out what the law actually is... and then the Administrations make mistakes way too often. This costs small businesses too much time. But this is a different situation to the one in Russia."Content Marketing To Connect With Your International Markets
"Yes, it can be complex simply because you have to juggle so many things at one time. Each one of these things is not that difficult for business professionals. And knowing how to adapt content for different audiences is one of them. The key thing is to constantly make the effort to develop the international people skills or cross-cultural competence. And that requires a personal effort... which we don't always take time for."Content Marketing To Connect With Your International Markets
"Martin, No I haven't! Another one to add to my wishlist :) My next read is: International Communications Strategy: Developments in Cross-cultural Communications, PR and Social Media by Sylvia Cambie. It came out recently on Amazon UK - I've had to wait for Amazon France to catch up - just checked and it's finally there :)"Content Marketing To Connect With Your International Markets
"Yes,I don't think there are that many good cross-cultural business books out there. So I'm looking forward to Sylvie's book for the social media and PR aspect. Another interesting way of looking into cross-cultural insights is through movies. You need to give put a little bit of preparation and pay attention, but it works fairly well for some people. This website is a great resource of this - Intercultural Film Database - http://www.uni-hildesheim.de/interculturalfilm/index.php This database has an alphabetical list of movies. There are tips on which parts of the movies to pay attention to and what you can see there. Take your time to read the glossary which explains the terms used. These terms are directly related to cross cultural marketing. When you look at the tips and the glossary it is easy to pick up the cross-cultural differences that come through the movie. And then most of these cultural differences are easy to adapt to business situations. "Subscribe

"The title made me laugh - this is something I ran into a few times this past week - I just could not understand what they were trying to sell. "
