Jonathan, Even if these points are for white papers, they actually got me thinking about all marketing materials. As a small business owner I actually find these points inspiring.... to always market with the best content you have. When things get busy, it's easy to focus on the subject matter and how this fits in within a marketing plan and forget to step back and look at the overall package. "
Shawn, you hit the nail on the head. A UK web consultant who serves small businesses has asked me to create a product for his clients. They want to hear from someone like them who is using social media... So I guess I'll write a few more posts. It is interesting how my cross-cultural business background has helped me adapt social media for my business. It's really about keeping a business focus in an environment that you are not familiar with and expecting that you'll get things wrong first time around. So planning to be flexible and reactive... I'm also amazed by the number of people who bring personal baggage into their social media tactics (and losing or diluting their business focus) without realizing it. "
Shawn - oh I started with one thing - a blog. It was when I wanted to raise the level of my blogging that I started adding in things one at a time. As a small business owner I spend a long time integrating things into my schedule I a way that works for me. "
