Using Radio to Communicate with Customers
"Great but sometimes not-so-common idea and an innovative approach at that. Not through advertising but through what, in online circles, would probably be called content marketing. Like becoming a source in your field of expertise for television or newspapers, it promotes your brand by demonstrating the value you can bring in a particular area. A great idea for marketing in more traditional media that more small businesses should be pursuing. "The Paradox Of Personal Branding For Entrepreneurs
"This sure is a big concept, David. Because the world used to be about compartmentalization as well. So the question isn't just how much of your personality do you or should you put out there, but also are there any parts that really don't fit with your brand? Are your political/religious views, hobbies, interests, other relationships consistent with what you do? In the old days, perhaps being an organic eating, environmentally conscious, Republican yoga instructor and hand gun enthusiast wasn't a problem. You interacted with many different people in many different worlds without necessary overlap. Now your life is an open Facebook. How much do you share? "Why Is Simple So Hard :: Duct Tape Marketing
"Great post, John, and something that most people should be thinking about for their businesses. When you ask the question what does Apple do, or what does Google do, or what does 37 Signals do...or what do you do, it's tougher to answer that question than most people realize. On one hand you've got to give yourself room to grow (Apple does more than just computers now) and at the same time, you've got to understand the core of your business (Google is about search) so that you can help people understand what you do as well. "Beer Guzzler? Hell-Raiser? Sex-Machine? Keep It Off the Web & Away from Business!
"Definitely online reputation can be critical, Yoni. Excellent post. Many people correctly bring up the point that once posted some of this stuff can last forever. But it isn't just the really inappropriate material people need to be careful about. Sometimes simply conducting yourself unprofessionally on a social media network, where you thought you were talking only to friends, can cause problems. The best rule of thumb? Never post anything you don't want the world to see. Sound advice. "Leaping To Solutions! Are We Solving The Right Problem?
"Dave, What a great concept not only for sales people but for all entrepreneurs and small business leaders in general. Why are the only two options trying to push a solution down a client's throat without really knowing it is the right answer for them or relying upon them to tell you what service they need? Seems like there is a better way to really address a client or customer's problem in a more satisfactory way."The Force Field ep44 - Call That Girl!: A Marketing Success Story Part 2
"Awesome second part to your interview, Rik. Have you seen the Friday edition of the Small Business News roundup at Small Business Trends entitled "So You Want To Start A Business" where we linked to part 1 and 2. Thanks again for such excellent content."Subscribe
Facebook business etiquette 101
"Hi Walethia, A pretty great overview not only of the essentials of etiquette in the FB space but also in just about every other social media channel as well. The funny thing is that these points are really not new and are the kind of thing that translate quite nicely to face-to-face networking events as well. Thanks for sharing."
