Small Business Strategies: Taking Advantage of Emerging Markets
"Too many so many companies feel this way, Shane, since emerging markets often developed through new technology and innovation are the key to the future of most businesses. Increasingly, if you're doing exactly the same thing next year you are doing this year you are likely to be in trouble...at least in the long run"How To Write A Small Business Press Release Subject Line
"Wow, John, great insight. It's amazing how the need to send press releases via e-mail vs. fax changes everything. As a veteran of the newspaper business for over eleven years, I can tell you e-mail has completely overtaken fax or other means of delivering press releases and the sheer volume of e-mails the average editor must scan through daily is immense. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules here except that the subject line must stand out and look important (and time sensitive)and the lead line and first paragraph must match that subject and elaborate quickly once you do get an editor to open your e-mail. If they can't figure out it's important, it's headed for deletion."But I Just Sent Her Out For Staples
"Wow, Ryan. I just don't know what to say. I'm wondering if this kind of insurance has been held by half of the employers (or any of the employers) I've worked for over the years. I'm also wondering how many small businesses can afford it in these tough economic times. Do you think the size of the business is in any way a factor in such matters. Is this something a business just getting started out should worry about if they have virtually no assets and very low earnings. Can you even become the target of a lawsuit when your business is just getting started out and you have no appreciable assets that would make a law suit even worthwhile?"Subscribe
Social Media Risk Control
"Ryan, I agree but wonder if this risk is sometimes overstated. Ever since the arrival of computer files and data disks (and even before) the real risk was a disgruntled employee giving away a jewel case full of your most precious data at the local bar over some drinks. In a way, social media has made these kinds of transfers (both intended and accidental) a bit more potentially transparent. And I wonder if businesses would not be wiser to adapt their business model to the new realities. "
