Should I Cut Back on Security?
"Hi Sean. To give you an idea how security conscious some people are, when I was about 10, my next-door neighbor & I used to imagine our dream homes if we became millionaires. Basically, we both agreed an underground Playboy Mansion with pom-poms in turrets above ground was the way to go (remember, I was 10 - never made the Mil, either). "I soooo agree, Jackie. I unprotected my tweets Monday - and I've spent boat loads of time blocking weirdos & freaks that glom on. Some of the most offensive stuff I see on my page (right under my own photo) are @tweets - from people I didn't follow. Now I spend time every day checking every @tweet from all the fruitcakes with diarrhea of the tweet button - so many with 10's or 100's of 1,000's of tweets it's ridiculous. I'm up from following 50 to following 100 now, and I'll bet I've blocked close to 250, maybe 300 idiots - almost all of them @tweeters. There's one guy whose stream is so full of 'em, all I have to do is check @so-and-so, then check each one (and Their @'s) - it's a freak show. Like I have all day to block??? All I want is to follow people I already know online, and maybe OK a few unknowns that seem OK (after I check them out with a fine tooth comb) - not every tweet-happy nut on the planet!! "I can't live with that as a solution, Jackie - the ignoring it part. It's not enough that I get listed tweets from people that matter, its about not having garbage on my page that seems even more important. Something about my name & photo hovering above my page makes it impossible to ignore."CommentLuv Enabled Blog List: Link Building Just Got a Whole Lot Easier
"Hi Ana. The whole "commenting as a strategy so you can get high power backlinks to serve your own self-interest" bit makes my skin crawl. I'd say why bother - why not invent a better bot to leave the comments that mean nothing to anyone but you - it's the same difference. I guess it's basically just link-trading. "Hi Fred. Good analogy - the soldier & his level of training counts much more (as long as his "Brand" (Old English for blade - as in brandish) had enough carbon content to be heat-treated - otherwise it'd snap or stay bent on impact). What good is reach/traffic, if when they get there, it's junk. Duncan"Subscribe

In Defense Of Search Engine Optimization
"Hi Patricia. I especially like #2, about the over-estimation of commenting vis-a-vis SEO link value. The whole commenting as a totally self-serving strategy bothers me to the core. In my case, if I read something that compels me to comment, that's when & why I comment. Duncan p.s. As one of the moderators here at BizSugar, it's great to see a new face who's engaging to the extent you are - it IS appreciated. A tip for all BizSugar members - if you click on "live" at the top right, then click on "comments" a bit lower, you can follow the entire comment stream back to infinity. It makes it really easy to follow what's going on."
