Sick of Struggling? Add the Key Ingredients For Success in Your Business!
"Hi Mavis - I don't think MLM'ers are losing money because of the 1% formula, I think it's because MLM = Network Marketing is a pyramid scheme, which guarantees those not in the top few seeds will lose - that's why it's against the law in the United States. Duncan"Is Google +1 the Future of Marketing Or Just Another Opportunity for Bad Business?
"Wong, I wouldn't stop at 'mere' conflict of interest (as bad as that is). If this thing succeeds wildly (which it will, because no business has the guts to buck Google), Google will become a defacto "Big Brother", controlling literally everything that happens online - they'll track every keystroke we make, then try to predict what we'll do next, all the while controlling all access to information. "Hi Martin. I'm old enough to remember the B+W Tonight Shows w/Johnny out of New York. Ed used to do "live" commercials for Alpo - he'd open the can into a bowl obliquely, release the dog, and the dog would dive in immediately. Then the trick was discovered - they put steak under the dog food first. Duncan"Managing the IT Management Crisis
"A lot of places put the CFO in charge of IT, like a hospital where I worked. I don't see the connection in terms of expertise*, but it exists. Duncan *In my case, the hospital CFO knew nothing about IT, but he was over it. I know he didn't, because he was also over my department, and claimed no knowledge there, either, at meetings he attended. He oversaw the budgets, and OK'd projects presented to him. (I never thought this situation was ideal, or even peripherally advisable, for that matter.)"Managing the IT Management Crisis
"Further, having the CFO over IT was a "streamlining" effort in the early/mid-2000's. Prior to being gobbled-up by the big local hospital, we had our own VP over IT (who oversaw my department then, too). He had a "tech guy" who knew the nuts & bolts of IT (then called IS - information systems), while he managed it with much less specialized technical knowledge. After removing the VP over IT, they installed a "gigaman" that literally hard-wired all the small local hospitals (underground) to the giant, and let go of all in-house IT personnel. All IT personnel were at the hub only, and each hospital had to print their own 'labs' every shift to keep up with changing patient needs. I saw the gigaman wiring at its terminus in our hospital - it was as big around as a man's arm."6 Reasons Why You Should Not Expect Brand Loyalty
"Very intelligent - and different - ideas, Mariam. I agree. Judging by the multitude of articles that suggest it's possible for a brand to gain anything like the kind of loyalty people give their family & friends, I'd say it's about time, too. I loved the part about consumers maybe just wanting to be adventurous & try something new - just for the heck of it. I also think brand loyalty need not be anywhere near 100% at any given time - it's easily possible to be loyal to several competing brands in one niche if they all offer good products with different points of differentiation. I may buy from brand A this time intending to go back to them, but buy from brand B next, then C, then B, then back to A - but I plan on going back. I think the real problem for brands is to Try not to give anyone a reason Not to go back - like you said, there's way too much competition. Duncan "Subscribe
Social Media Spotlight – Volkswagen Does Anything For Jetta
"Hi Buzz. On a related note, the Volkswagen (meaning "folks wagon") commercials I've seen in NE Ohio (something to the effect of "Autobahn for Everyone") bother me because the idea is that it's supposedly cool that their cars are so very capable of breaking the speed limit, thus engendering dangerous & deadly driving habits. In one, a terrified woman is having her hand pried from the hand loop after riding along. To me, this image was so "not funny" that I actually remembered it - negatively. Further, it's at the end of the commercial - I only saw it after channel surfing (I don't watch TV commercials - haven't since Zenith's invention of the TV remote in the '60's). Duncan"
