6 Signs Your Blog Is Heading For Its Death (And Small Suggestion To Revive It)

"Copy and paste of comment submission to the blog page on this: Interesting read, nice parallels to health of human and blog health. I ran into this post because of submission over at BizSugar, and thought I'd drop by and read. Like Delena mentions, and is human nature, discouragement is one thing, giving up is another, yet in my almost 20 years online, I'd have to say that the frustrations and giving up are the root of most failure. Of course, there is much more beyond that, part of it relating to what kind of marketer we each are, but at the root, those things play big roles in the results. I've had times where I've seen visitors drop off as well. However, I can also track that back to certain things I've done, or in most cases not done, to cause that drop off. Social networking, for instance is a very big part of my traffic generation strategies, and I find when I fail to network as much, I can see nice dips in traffic. In the end, allot goes back to people's failure to track as well. It's a bit hard to fix problems when people don't use analytics to begin with, which means most times, they have no clue about why things aren't working. Nice post, one vote up for a visitor from BizSugar :) PS. The tick box for comment submission to show people we're not scammers has blank text. Well, it's not blank, but it's the same color as the background and people can't read it. It could affect your comments :)"

The Myth Of Overnight Success

"What I posted over on your site is as follows: Hello Isabelle, I stumbled in from BizSugar, and just thought I'd mention the point you made on analytics and tracking. I also run a website trying to teach ethical marketing, while using a domain trying to elevate above what most of the questionable ethics people promote, and one of the most common problems comes from the fact of lacking analytics. It's not just email campaigns, it's website analytics as well. We simply cannot reposition or fix problems and issues when we don't know what they are. In all actuality, I'd have to say, in my almost 20 years online, the top biggest problems relate to failure to track, for proper evaluation, and the type of marketer someone is, are they ethical, or unethical. With relation to tracking, it does provide a wealth of information to help us make more educated decisions. Without analytics, it's a shotgun blind approach that gives us no answers to the questions that matter. Just like you pointed out, with email analytics, it can tell us the best days and times to send them because we want the most action we can get from the process. I'd also point out, that many "gurus" suggest deceptive email subject line headers. Sales always take some degree of trust. How can anyone expect to be deceptive in an email heading and then anticipate an expectation of someone to react on the message within? It's one of the biggest brand damaging moves an email marketer can make. Thanks for the vid. Good points and good information."
