Pricing for a ‘Daily-Rater’: Some Issues And Solutions
"Hi Roisin, thanks for sharing these pricing tactics. I have use discounts in the past but in a slightly different way to most businesses. I use them like a surprise thank you gift after the work is done. This usually really resonates with the client as I tend to a very tough negotiator up front, so it comes as a bit of a shock and nearly always results in them ringing/contacting me to say thanks. The key point for me is ensuring that I and any discounting I provide are remembered :)"What Do Women Need to Start A Business?
"Hi Elli, interesting post and one that I'm sure will encourage more qualified opinion than mine.I believe the starting point is not with how women are viewed/treated in the workplace but in how men are viewed at home, in other words an imbalance will always exist outside of the home so long as society tolerates imbalance in the home. For instance, there was an opportunity here in Ireland after the last general election to appoint a male minister for children which would have sent a new message, but we missed it!"How to Create a Newsletter that Won't be Spammed
"Great post Derbhile, I like your advice around an article based approach for service companies. It's probably always a good idea to give people some unique content in your newsletter, but blog posts can also be re-used which ensures that your content goes further."6 Pros and 6 Cons Of Using Facebook Groups To Organise An Event
"Great post Amanda, I think Facebook groups are a super resource but I agree that they have some limitations. For anyone that perseveres with e-mail for group projects, they’re certainty a step in the right direction. Thanks for sharing - Niall"No Aim, No Gain! Do or Die Marketing : Setting Objectives is Vital to Success
"Hi Paula, thanks for another education! The initial objectives for me when creating Bloggertone were both marketing and networking. In other words, I realised early that if I could create a place of value for the business community to hang out and learn, my own brand would benefit both directly and indirectly. It also provided me with a networking opportunity both with the bloggers and readers alike. The smartest B2B marketing objectives for me are where you can get your customers to come to you rather than the other way round :)"Business measurement - how healthy is your business?
"Barney, Not so long ago my own business was in a bad place mainly because we had a lot of construction clients and the industry had just fallen apart. This year sales have come back stronger than ever, here's how: a) I re-positioned who I am professionally and the services I offer. b) My biz model had been based on short-term engagements, I sought out companies (many start-ups) that I could grow with and have much longer-term engagements with. c) When the recession hit, I initially fell into the trap of chasing business, while I secured clients this way, the quality of these relationships was often poor. Now, mainly because I have been able to substantially build my personal brand, clients seek me out and these are the right types of people and businesses for me to work with. I qualify hard and early only taking on a percentage of those that want to do businesses. Thanks for sharing, Niall"Drill First, Skim Next.
"Hi Mairead, this is great advice, I couldn't agree more! So may businesses are stuck in the trap of trying to be all things to everyone and this is even more common now because of these difficult economic times. Find your niche and be the best, your customers will thank you for it. Super post, well done"Take The Hassle Out Of Tweeting With Twitterfeed
"Hi Daniel, I wasn't aware of Twitterfeed until your post, but seems like it could be useful. I currently use hootsuite to put some automation on a few twitter accounts I manage, but I also like to keep a real presence on there too. Thanks for sharing, Niall"Subscribe
Understanding the B2B Customer
"Hi Christina, I think the b2b environment has changed radically in last number of years. Risk avoidance is now the number one motivator along with need to play to the internal politics within the business. As regards making the business case, it's now has to be short-term focused and demonstrate a clear line to new customers/sales. "
