"Susan, I found the story so cool as told by Jeff Shaara, I just knew I needed to use it. You are right about competition, it is healthy and can be used to better ourselves. And you just never know when a relationship with a rival can emerge. Yoni "A Lesson On Business Chivalry from the Skies of the First World War...Over the Western Front
"BTW Duncan, I had commented a few short weeks ago in this thread that there were only two WWI combat vets left in the world. I don't know if you saw on the news yesterday, but the last one passed away yesterday: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13289607 Truly, the end of an era! "The Purple Cow is also a pub in Morgantown, WV. I spent many a night there during my days at WVU. Also, a very insightful article, sorry if I got sidetracked with my memories of the "Roaring 90's" in the great State of West Virginia..."Country roads, take me home, to the place I belongggggg..." "Cindy, It's a really great idea. Writers block is a definite problem at times for everyone. Compiling a "best of" is certainly a way to go. "Best Short Stories of -fill in the year-" is a best-seller every year. The publisher doesn't write stories, they simply read everthing out there and choose the cream-of-the-crop. It's a runaway bestseller every year, so it must be a winning formula! Yoni"Don’t Put Your Head in The Sand When Marketing Your Brand
"Susan, It's one of the reasons that when outsouring you really need to know the capabilities of the outsourcee (not sure that's actually a word?). If they are incapable of managing your affairs, they can drag you down and waste a heck of a lot of time and money. "James, More great, quality advice on keeping it real. Very well written and thought-out...and great Eastwood-esque title. "In this world there's two kinds of people my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig!" --Clint Eastwood, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly "Knowing When to Walk Away from Ineffective Business Tools & Techniques
"Adam, Very nice post. The obstacle is definitely having to admit that you were wrong...a blow to anyone's self-confidence and ego. I have tried so many things that ended up being wrong; letting go was the hard part. My first three months of business were without a blog, my wife said "Start blogging!" I hesitated then had to admit I was wrong...a modern business does in fact need a blog. One of my big obstacles is not having a cellphone. People try and get hold of me...my response is just "leave a message, I'll get back to you either in ten minutes or tomorrow...or whenever." At some point I will have to admit defeat and get one. I am just petrified by tech though. Yoni"Knowing When to Walk Away from Ineffective Business Tools & Techniques
"Technology just scares the crap out of me. I've tried to learn to program the clock on a VCR, send a text-message and do a screen-shot. All to no avail. I failed miserably at them all. I'm too old to learn a whole new skill-set. I probably should have been born when horses and buggies and the Pony Express were in existence. Yoni"Subscribe
