The Commoditization of Content
"It's a really interesting question. While users generate free content by the bucketload and fill the pockets of big Internet companies, what happens to professional journalism. Much of this development is positive but as paid newspapers go down the tubes, where do we get news we trust when professional journalists can no longer be paid? "Thanks Jackie. I like the analogy. It is all a matter of perspective for me. A solid internet strategy will use multiple channels and will understand which ones are good for what purposes. It will be based on where your customers are and different channels will hit different customers at different points. The next big thing is important but it is just one more channel. There will be another one along after it and we'll need to adjust to that too. You are exactly right. Solid strategies that are adapted to the many changes we see each year online. Experts Are Everywhere, Who Do You Choose?
"Hi Jackie Great post and a great point. I loved this bit: "the depth of knowledge they share, how they interact with their audience, and if they’re consistent." I was talking to a small business owner about why blog the other day and mentioned a blog let me see what they have to say about their subject. His reply was "So you don't care what they say about themselves anymore." and that was exactly it. My own pet hate in the fake expert game is the amount of credibility that gets driven by speaking engagements but I don't suppost that will change anytime soon. On another note, loved your Facebook page. Great landing page and I think this post is a great way to promote your hump day idea. "
