"Hi Adam! Some things are better-made now than 40-50 years ago: cars then rarely if ever lasted over 100,000 miles (it was a miracle if they did), they got 4-6 miles/gallon, and were horrible death traps. Refrigerators were heavily built - all steel walls, but they were very inefficient, and the cork gaskets on the doors wore out quickly. If we go back 100 years - before electric appliances, then workmanship was still excellent. In that era hand-made meant well-made, not slapped together in the 3rd world like it does now. businessavante (aka Duncan)"
