"Exactly, Rivkah- if she had taken the high road as a conscientious objector, no one would mind. I'm not sure how it is there & now, but here during the Vietnam war C.O.'s had to serve in the Peace Corps, or some other similar service to prove they were against violence, but still willing to serve their country (if they were picked in the draft lottery). BTW, The "Wild, Wild West" ('65-'69) was taken off the air because a certain congressman thought it was too violent in 1969. Every night, more of our war dead in body bags on the TV news, but 'West' was too violent. I thought it was BS (because Ross Martin, as Artemus Gordon, had suffered a heart attack that year - which I thought was the real reason for ending the show when it was still a hit after only 4 seasons, but Robert Conrad named the congressman in a documentary on westerns filmed recently). "So true, M.D. - and doesn't a lot of the 'gloom' factor come from the media, and party opposition wanting everything to go wrong for the other side (w/o regard to the welfare of the people, the economy, national security, or the country). Duncan"Run a Fantasy Football League to Engage Customers
"Hi Ryan. Before Manny Pacquiao (the greatest active boxer - the only man to hold belts in 8 divisions, and the only man to hold 4 "lineal" belts, though many - including me - think Henry Armstrong did win at middleweight against Ceferino Garcia, in effect holding 4 belts simultaneously in the old weight divisions - with the ref paid-off to 'fix' the decision) fought Shane Mosley this past May, there were some computerized "claymation" simulations of Manny versus "Sugar Ray Robinson" (real name: Walker Smith), Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran, and Bernard "B-Hop" Hopkins. They were silly, but it shows the lengths people will go to in trying to imagine something that can't really take place. Duncan"Working at Home: The Latch-Key Solution
"Interesting, Joseph, and you have just described the reason for the formation of gangs in modern society. No one was home in U.S. urban areas during WWII to raise the kids, and they formed gangs because it was too difficult emotionally to go it alone - their only strength came when they're surrounded by their cohorts. Alone, they're cowards. Duncan"How to Sell to Consumers
"Good points, Frank. In retail, I always assume the salesperson knows the products. That means, in a music store chock-full of commissioned salespeople, when I ask: "Does it include a compressor or limiter?", and they say: "I don't know", I'm sure that translates to: "No it doesn't, but I'd appreciate if you'd suspend belief till after you get it home and see that it doesn't!" "Good ol' Chuck - the opposite of the sensitive '70's "Starsky & Hutch". I saw one last week where Hutch softly whispered to a woman why he couldn't rough up the bad guy when they caught him. Jump ahead 20 years to "Walker, Texas Ranger", and he always kicked-ass before he took 'em in - no apology offered (of course, they always so conveniently made a vestive move). He usually topped it off with a couple of 'spin kicks' to the temple: carrrunch!!!"
