Encouraging Continuous Self Development Among Employees
"Hi Frank, great post! So many businesses pay false homage to the notion that a businesses greatest asset is its people. It's actually quite disturbing sometimes to see how employees are viewed and of course the reverse is usually the case where the role is badly paid and supported. It pains me to say it but I think most business fail when it comes to many of things that you talk about here and small business in particular can be some of the worst offenders. Important post and subject matter that should get a lot more coverage?"Consultancy Engagement And Scope Control
"Hi Barney, I often work where my payments are largely results based. This is more lucrative, gives me a competitive advantage and I enjoy working in this way. However it’s not a good idea for many companies for many of the reasons that you mentioned above. In scoping out projects, other points for me are: Where is the business now, what evidence exists to support this and how was it measured? Where does the business need/want to go, what evidence is there that this is possible how will it be measured? Getting many businesses even big ones to measure ROI is often one of the hardest tasks I find, great share."How I Make Money On Twitter
"Hi Ivan, This is another gem! Thanks as always for sharing your knowledge. My favourite thing about Twitter is that it is more real-time than the others; therefore I feel it works best as a conversation tool. Most of the work/engagement I do on Twitter happens offline in the form of DMs. I try to take the conversation from online to offline quickly so it helps me to start conversations with people I'd want to talk to. I used to use the phone to cold-call people but I now find where possible Twitter is a far more efficient and time saving tool. Here's a post from Cindy King at Social Media Examiner that I think will compliment it http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/8-simply-steps-to-growing-a-quality-twitter-following/"Business acronym: Self
"Hi Mairead, It's cool to see that you took on Elli's feedback last time. This is my fav so far, the reason: I think it all starts with the self and very often for me the business is an extension of the business owner. Our businesses reflect us. I like scrutiny, the difficulty for a great many however is that one woman's scrutiny is another man's criticism. Really being able to take constructive criticism is such a gift for any business owner but so many find it really difficult."A New Approach To Goal Setting
"Hi Denise, I like common sense approaches, great post! One of the things that I often notice with goal setting is that people set themselves up to fail in going to extremes rather than aimed for more doable targets over shorter time frames. As you point out in your post, people who achieve their aims are able to break targets down in to small manageable chunks. Great Reminders, Niall"On The Doorstep Of a New World
"great post! I like it! How do you view profit? Well my own views on this have changed quite considerably in the last while. If I am honest, it used to be about the money for me, in fact I would go so far as to say I didn't even see people, I just saw the size of the invoice. I've changed now to the point where so long as I have enough to live now, I couldn't care less about the dough. Now the biggest consideration for me is getting to work with the right people, with the right type of mindset. In this regard I find the internet and social media great, you can put yourself out there and like minded people find you, thus generating genuine opportunities for collaboration. Even as I read back over this comment, I realise I now sound like the guys I was so cynical about 4-5 yrs ago, it’s great! :)"Subscribe
Traits Of A Great Sales Person
"Hi Neil, this is a post that is close to my heart. The profession of selling is often misunderstood, sometimes maligned and continues to see massive change in recent years to the point that many now believe that selling as we know it will cease to exist very soon. For me, the traits that that define a professional salesperson are an ability to ask great questions and the ability to truly and actively listen to the answers. It will be interesting to see what others think?"
