Is Your Digital Self More Powerful Than You?
"Hi Christina, great post! I have a lot of online connections, between BT, LI groups, FB groups etc etc, It's probably over 20K, but It's in what you do with these connections, rather than how many you have that ultimately decides your "power". With that in mind, I'm going to give people a 2nd task (hope you, and they don't mind?). Every day, pick one or two of these online connections, and start to build an old fashioned relationship. Skype, Talk to them on the phone, meet for a coffee, hook up at a networking event etc and watch what happens, it’s amazing!"It’s Not My Fault!
"Hi Patrica, when I was a kid I used to get bullied quite a bit, it was a horrible experience at the time! Then one day, because I literally had no choice, I fought back! It was amazing in that the bully quickly became afraid of me and ran away. He never choose to bully me again after that. The lesson I learnt from that experience and that day, allows me now to spot the potential bullies at a distance. When this stuff happens in the workplace, it can in some cases be nastier because it is invariably harder to prove. A previous company, that I worked for asked me to fire two salespeople for no good reason, other than one of the senior manager wanted to flex his power. I refused! But had to leave a year later because their focus then turned to me. Thanks for sharing."Place And Time Promotions In 2011
"The levels of successful ROI you mention are excellent, I would say that 11-34% is a great return considering. I think the key point must be, as Rip says is that the campaign becomes locally relevant for that consumer. What I like is that, traditional businesses can easily afford to implement campaigns that will give them a competitive edge within the area. Thanks for sharing, Niall"Stress-Testing Your Reality
"For me is the ability to combine our rationally with our emotional drivers is critical in everything that we do. If you can weight up the factors vs the risks (and there always need to be some risk), you end up with common sense decisions. I also think that it's important to be able to take other points of view on board while continuing to have your own mind. On the other hand, I think a lot of bad decision making is often driven by insecurity, more often at the unconscious level."Turning 25: A Fable Through The Medium of Social
"I agree that it makes sense to get to know the platforms well. By the way, I think you have Ms. FB wrong, you may have went to school with her, but she's grown up to be a serious career lady, a little demanding perhaps but the potential for a real relationship is huge :)"Pricing For Profit. Part 1
"I've seen so many small businesses adopt a reactive rather than proactive approach to their price setting. Dropping price is not the answer, particularly when you consider that's the exact same approach that your competition are engaging in too. As Fred points out, the key is really examine the business and learn how to diffrenciate. Thanks for sharing, Niall"Subscribe
The Challenge Of Honesty
"Hi Barney, it takes courage to be honest with customers, I agree, and you will leave business behind as a result. That said, there are plenty of customers out there that can smell a rat, that are tuned in enough to know, and these are the people I like to work with and for. Invariably, these are the more intelligent businesses people and they're companies are the ones that are going places. Interestingly, I find social media acts like a lighthouse, attracting clients that are right for me and my business."
