Hotel Chains And Telephones
"Hi Joel, I worked for one of the Holiday Inn Convention centers for several years, and I can tell you, the whole history of the franchise is fascinating. It really helped open up domestic road travel and paved the way for truck stops, diners, other restaurants, and other hotels and all the retail that cropped up around them. It's just a shame that the brand doesn't really reinforce the standards well. How does Holiday Inn go about making sure franchise owners maintain standards?"13 Neuromarketing Lead Generation and Conversion Tips
"Lots of advice here, but sometimes it frightens me how much marketing/converting is really based on psychology. People go along thinking they're not susceptible to such tactics, however the studies don't lie--these methods work on almost all of us. Makes me want to go out and buy some books on Jung and Freud."Your Next Startup Will Likely Be Run By a Boomer
"Fantastic article, Martin. It really encourages me, as an adult student and one who will be entering the workforce and/or starting my own business at Gen X age. My generation has to hand it to the boomers, "it" being both the bad, like the drain on social security and medicare, and the good, being what your post was about--their entrepreneurial spirit. Hopefully, because of the sheer numbers of boomers, they can reinvent the workforce and lead business people to value older workers, so that my generation can benefit too."Why You Should Be Using Google Webmaster Tools

"Hi Kare, What a timely post about lessons to be learned from the current U.S. Presidential debate (and what not to do in our own marketing.) There's certainly a danger in making marketing confrontational in the way political campaigns have been in recent years. Thanks for this look at a third way to deal with crafting your narrative."An Unexpected Way to Become the Top Choice - Forbes
"Thanks, Kare, We strive to serve the small business community in all its diversity and perhaps that's the real secret to the community's success. Allowing small business people with a range of philosophies and expertise the opportunity to express their thoughts in an open forum allows members to weigh different opinions and consider advice from several points of view. "Starting a Business on the Side
"So many entrepreneurs can relate to this scenario. I think the point about sacrificing "me" time is particularly important and something part-time entrepreneurs really must understand from the beginning. There will be a cost, even to bootstrappers, and if that cost is not money then it will be time. "Subscribe
Small Businesses Take Advantage of Psychology Insights Into Human Resource Management
"Interesting article, but having existed on the other side of the fence--as an emplyee--for too long, I am pretty jaded when it comes to the effectiveness of HR. Why is it that conflict resolution and even the mere act of reporting a problem via open door policy seems to simply draw negative attention of one's superiors rather than helping? Personally, I have learned to pick and choose my battles, and certainly if I have a business with employees I will be true to the spirit of "open door policy", but how many corporations really follow through on this initiative? What is your experience?"
